It is a practical design, built to keep spectators dry without blocking the view of the pitch. The seating is arranged in blocks of red and grey, and the backs of the stand bear the name of the town in large, faded letters.

The pitch is a solid rectangle of natural grass, marked out for a full-size match. The floodlights sit high on tall metal gantries that stretch across the width of the ground. When the match is underway, the lights cut through the night, creating long shadows that reach across the grass. The players line up at the centre circle before the whistle, a routine scene that looks slightly different here because of the stand behind them. The roofline of the main stand is distinct, a series of repeating curves that give the ground a rhythm.

The other side of the pitch is lined with trees, which soften the edges of the stadium and make it feel closer to the hills. There is no grand entrance hall, only the simple concrete structure that houses the changing rooms and the ticket office. The site is functional, without unnecessary decoration. It has hosted a cup final, but the memory of that day is not painted on the walls or kept in a museum. The ground is used every week, and the wear on the grass tells the story of its purpose.

The nearby ice hockey arena is a separate building, with its own bold signage and blue doors. It is part of the same sports complex, but it is not the same place. The football stadium is for the game played on grass, with the open sky above and the trees behind the touchline. It is a local ground, nothing more, but it holds its shape and serves the community that comes to watch the match.
