Arena City
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia
Arena City stands as the first covered ice dome on Sakhalin. It opened in 2012, a modern building sitting inside the City-Mall shopping complex on Mira Avenue. The structure is defined by its function: a standard ice hockey rink measuring 60 by 27 metres with a natural ice surface, though some sources argue for 60 by 30. The difference is a matter of precise measurement rather than architectural style.
The venue hosts the Sakhalin Sharks, a youth team in the Junior Hockey League (MHL). The capacity for such games is tight, listed at 1,250 seats, which means the crowd is never far from the boards.
Beyond the league games, the complex serves the local community. It offers public skating sessions and figure skating training, alongside a fitness club and a spa zone featuring Russian, Turkish, and Finnish baths. The facility also houses a hockey equipment store called Taghrai and provides parking for 200 cars.
