ARS Arena
Wedemark-Mellendorf, Germany
Formerly: Eisstadion Mellendorf, Ice-House Mellendorf, Hus de Groot Eisarena
ARS Arena does not look like much from the street. That is not the name this place has carried for long, nor is it the purpose for which it was built. It sits in Wedemark-Mellendorf, a municipality near Hanover in Germany, at Am Freizeitpark 2, 30900 Wedemark. The arena was originally built as an outdoor ice rink in 1974, covered with a roof and first stand in 1977, and expanded in 1995. The current capacity is 2,600 (2,184 standing, 416 seated). The surface is ice. It is home to the Hannover Scorpions ice hockey team since 2017. The name ARS Arena has been used since September 2022 (some sources say 2024). The official website is eisstadion-mellendorf.de. The venue is approximately 20 km north of Hanover city center. It is not the home ground of Hannover 96 (which plays at Heinz-von-Heiden-Arena).
