It grew quietly from a capacity of 6,000 to nearly 24,000 after a concrete stand was added in 1939. The modern era brought a hybrid grass surface in 2020 and a reduction in capacity to 19,433 following the addition of VIP boxes.

It was demolished to make way for Skovens Arena, which is expected to open in spring 2027. Before that, the ground had hosted the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final and a concert by George Michael in 2007, which drew 64,000 attendees. The stadium was designed by Axel Høeg-Hansen and served as the home for AGF since its opening.
