Bogyoke Aung San Stadium

Bogyoke Aung San Stadium sits on Zoological Garden Road. The pitch is natural grass, bordered by a 400m running track that was laid down in 1935. A PA system was added in 1958.
The ground opened in 1909 and was renamed after General Aung San in 1953. It served as the national stadium until the mid-1980s, when Thuwunna Stadium took over most international fixtures. Yangon United FC and Chinland FC call it home, though the latter's use of the venue is more a matter of logistics than choice. The stadium has hosted finals of the General Aung San Shield, with matches in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 drawing crowds of around 11,000.
What distinguishes the place is not its architecture but its location in a city that is growing around it.
