Bridgestone Arena
Nashville, United States
Formerly: Nashville Arena, Gaylord Entertainment Center, Sommet Center
The Bridgestone Arena stands on a corner where two streets meet, angled to catch the eye of anyone walking up Broadway. Its shape recalls Ryman Auditorium, the building that gave the city its music reputation long before the glass and steel arrived. Inside, the southern end of the crowd area contains two large round columns that support the roof; there is no mid-level seating here and only one tier of suites. The space holds 17,159 for ice hockey.
Nashville has seen the place under several names. It began as Nashville Arena, then passed through a period as Gaylord Entertainment Center and later Sommet Center before settling on its current title. The ice surface has hosted the National Hockey League (NHL)'s Nashville Predators since the doors first opened. In recent years the club has prepared for a renovation project that aims to add seats and update the ice plant. Security screening has been modernised with new technology to speed up entry.
The 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs brought a temporary change to the capacity, but the numbers have since returned to normal.
