Cherkasy Arena

The running track is the most immediate thing you notice. Cherkasy Arena is an athletics ground first and a football stadium second. A goal stands at either end, small against the distance.

The stadium has lived through changes. It opened in 1957 as a place for local workers and athletes, built by the community itself. It was renamed several times—Lenin Komsomol, then Central—before becoming Cherkasy Arena in 2020. The capacity dropped over the years, from fifteen thousand to just over ten thousand, as parts of the stands were taken down or closed off. The last big rebuild happened in 2011, when the club Slavutych Cherkasy needed a venue for European matches. New pipes were laid, the locker rooms were extended, and the grass was replaced, but the track stayed.

Now it hosts FC LNZ Cherkasy and FC Cherkaskyi Dnipro. The crowd is rarely huge, but the place feels quiet in a way that matches the town. You can walk around it without rushing. The sky is usually open, and the light comes in from the sides, not straight down. There is no sign saying "Welcome." There is just the track, the seats, and the pitch.
