Dragão Arena

The arena replaced the older Pavilhão Américo de Sá, which was demolished in January 2001 when the football stadium complex began. It was designed by architects Manuel Salgado, Jorge Estriga, Joana Pinheiro, and Inês Cruz. The arena was inaugurated on April 23, 2009.

The original name, Dragão Caixa, came from a 10-year naming rights partnership with the Portuguese bank.
