Dreams Arena
Majadahonda, Spain
Formerly: Palacio del Hielo de Majadahonda, La Nevera
The facility at Calle Fresa, 14 carries a name that suggests a different purpose than ice hockey. Locally it is known as La Nevera, a title that persists despite the commercial branding of Dreams Arena. The building opened in 1996, a decade after the operating company was incorporated in December 1995.
Inside sits an Olympic-sized ice surface measuring 60 by 30 meters. The space accommodates 865 spectators. The Nordic Vikings Madrid, a Swedish student team, call the rink their home in the Spanish Superliga. They play a distinct game from the local football club CF Rayo Majadahonda, which operates at a separate ground on the Cerro del Espino.
The venue carries a heavier history than the sport alone. During the pandemic in Spain, the arena was converted into a temporary morgue, a use that sits uncomfortably with the image of a sporting hall. The Carralero Industrial Park surrounds the site, placing it roughly 3 km from the town railway station.
