Efbet Stadium

Surdulica, Serbia

Formerly: Surdulica City Stadium

Surdulica is a small town in the south of Serbia, and its stadium has never had to share the spotlight with anything grander nearby — FK Radnik Surdulica has played nowhere else since the ground opened in 1955. The club spent decades on a modest single stand before the town added a south terrace in 1987, a slow, patient build rather than a single grand project.

The real change came in the summer of 2015, when the east, north and west stands went up together and floodlight masts were installed, taking capacity to 3,312. It was not a rebuild forced by a European mandate or a championship bid, just a provincial club and its town deciding the old ground needed room to match its ambitions, at a cost of around 40 million dinars.

The stadium sits on Vase Smajevića, a street address with no house number in the Serbian style, which tells its own story about how small the town around it is. What surface the pitch carries, and what the ground was called before Efbet lent its name to it, are details that have not surfaced — Gradski stadion Surdulica remains the only other name on record.
