El Gigante del Norte

The pitch at the corner of Vicente López and Leguizamón has been played on since January 1920.

That rebuilding came in stages, each tied to a club president. Under Дэвид Мишель Торрино, who ran the institution from 1925 to 1953, floodlights went up and were switched on ceremonially on 7 November 1950. Thirty years later, under Рауль Лопес, the club bought a lighting system second-hand from Велес Сарсфилд and replaced the earth banks behind both goals with proper stands. The wooden terracing survived until 1994, when it was finally cut out and replaced with concrete.

The ground reopened on 20 April 1994 with Argentina against Morocco, a 3–1 friendly that turned out to be Диего Марадона's last match for the national team; he scored from the penalty spot. Somewhere between 30,000 and 35,000 people were inside.

It has never been only a football venue: concerts and horse-riding festivals have used it too. In 2023 a match was stopped after trouble involving visiting Хувентуд Антониана supporters.

Since March 2025 the official name has been that of Торрино. In Сальта people still say El Gigante del Norte.
