Estadio Libertadores de América - Ricardo Enrique Bochini
Avellaneda, Argentina
Formerly: La Doble Visera, Estadio Crucecita
Independiente pulled down its old ground in 2007 and did something few clubs manage: rebuild on the same footprint while the fixture list carried on regardless.
What stood before it carried its own weight in Argentine football history. La Doble Visera, named for its twin-tiered concrete roof, opened on 4 March 1928 as South America's first stadium built with concrete stands.
It has hosted two Copa Sudamericana finals, in 2010 and 2017, and two Recopa Sudamericana finals, in 2011 and 2018, and in September 2022 it staged its first rugby international, a 36-20 defeat for Argentina against South Africa. Not every occasion has passed off in that spirit: a Copa Sudamericana tie against Universidad de Chile in August 2025 was abandoned after crowd disorder.
