The ground in Cabudare does not look like the others. Its **Estadio Metropolitano de Lara** (also known as Estadio Metropolitano de Fútbol de Lara or Estadio Metropolitano de Cabudare) stands out because of its scale rather than its age.
The stadium was inaugurated on June 2, 2007, for the Copa América. The construction, overseen by the firm Jantesa, was not fully completed until October 2009. The original design capacity was 47,913, but safety restrictions brought the official number down to 40,312.
The venue was closed from 2018 to 2024 due to deterioration and cable theft. A major renovation was undertaken to meet CONMEBOL standards for the 2024 Preolímpico Sudamericano Sub-23. The work included new LED lighting by Pickens and a complete grass replacement. It was reinaugurated on May 30, 2024, with a friendly between Venezuela and Colombia women's teams.
The ground serves as the home for Deportivo Lara and Unión Lara SC. It also hosted matches for the Venezuela national team, including during the 2007 Copa América. The attendance record is 37,000 spectators, set during the Argentina vs. Paraguay match on July 6, 2007. It is also preparing to host matches for the Sudamericano Sub-20 2025.
The building is often referred to by locals as "El Inglés" or "El Elefante Rojo". The original construction cost was 180 billion bolivares.
