Estádio Municipal João Saldanha

What sets this ground apart from the amateur pitches that fill the rest of Maricá is that it did not exist three years ago. Where Cordeirinho once had an ordinary football field, the municipal administration built a stadium from the ground and opened it on the city's 209th anniversary. Maricá FC plays its Campeonato Carioca Série A2 fixtures here, and the ground carries the name of João Saldanha, chosen fresh rather than inherited — there was never an older name to replace.

The pitch has had more attention than the stadium's modest size might suggest. In December 2025 the penalty areas and other worn sections were relaid with Tifway Bermuda 419 turf.
