Estádio Raulino de Oliveira

The stadium carries its founder's name so consistently that most reference lists still give three versions of it — Raulino de Oliveira, General Sylvio Raulino de Oliveira, Estádio da Cidadania — and none of them has fully replaced the others in local use. It opened on 15 April 1951, home ground for Volta Redonda FC, known locally as Voltaço, in a city built around the CSN steelworks rather than around football. That industrial backdrop matters here more than at most Brazilian grounds of similar size: Volta Redonda grew up as a company town from the 1940s, and the stadium arrived as part of the same civic push that gave the city its street grid and public buildings, on Rua Panamá in the São Lucas district.

The ground closed for a full reconstruction and reopened on 17 April 2004, a rebuild substantial enough that some sources treat it as a second inauguration rather than a renovation. The natural grass pitch has stayed in place across both eras of the stadium's life, one of the few constants between the 1951 ground and the one used today.

Twenty thousand plus capacity puts it well above what Voltaço's average gate requires, a gap common enough among Rio de Janeiro state grounds built for a football boom that peaked decades ago. The Cidadania name — City of Citizenship — points to the stadium's role beyond matchdays, one it has kept through the state championship fixtures that make up most of its calendar.
