Forssan jäähalli
Forssa, Finland
The building at Urheilukentänkatu 6 is not a stadium. The sign on the facade reads "JÄÄHALLI" — the Finnish term for ice hall, not a football ground. This is an ice hockey arena, the home of Forssan Palloseura (FPS), a club established in 1931 that has competed in the Finnish top flight and the Mestis league, the second tier.
The structure opened in 1988, though some sources list 1971; the later date is supported by official city records. A major renovation was completed in 2023-2024, updating the cooling system, ventilation, and restrooms, though the capacity remained at 3,000 seats. The arena has never carried a sponsor's name.
It is a functional building, not one with architectural distinction. The roof curves in a simple arc; the walls are corrugated metal. The entrance sits beneath a flat concrete canopy held up by pillars.
The ground has hosted non-hockey events, including the Forssan Suvi-ilta summer evening festival and a concert by Gringos Locos on April 30, 1989. A notable local fixture was the FPS 90th Anniversary Celebration on November 27, 2021, which featured an alumni match and a Mestis game.
There is no attendance record on file. The arena does not have its own website; information is available through the city of Forssa's portal.
