Grünerhallen
Oslo, Norway
Clad in simple sandwich panels with a steel plate outer layer and a mineral wool core, the exterior was updated in 2008 to provide insulation against the local winter.
The playing surface is artificial ice. While the capacity is listed in various records, the most reliable figures suggest it holds 600 spectators—400 seated and 200 standing.
The structure was erected in 1995 by architect Einar Dahle, built on top of an existing artificial ice surface that had occupied the site since 1985. Today, the facility supports the second-tier team Grüner Ishockey and the Aker Bulldogs, while also accommodating youth squads Grüner 2 and Grüner 3.
There is little fanfare here. It is not a cathedral of sport, but a working facility for the district. As of 2023, the venue is undergoing further development, with plans to expand the seating capacity and locker rooms to meet growing demand.
