Heart Health Park
Sacramento, United States
Formerly: Bonney Field, Papa Murphy's Park
The ground sits inside the California State Fairplex, on the footprint of the old Cal Expo Amphitheatre — construction began in March 2014 and the first match followed on 20 June 2014, for a build cost of around $3 million. Cal Expo owns the land; Spectra, now part of Comcast Spectacor, runs the venue.
It has changed its name three times in a decade, each time for a sponsor. It opened as Bonney Field, became Papa Murphy's Park in March 2017, and has been Heart Health Park since May 2021, under an arrangement with the health plan Western Health Advantage.
The ground opened with roughly 8,000 seats, went to 11,442 for the 2015 season, and settled at its present figure — east and west stands on two tiers, corner and goal-end seating, boxes along the main stand.
The largest crowd on record predates the football ground itself: 14,014 for the friendly of 18 July 2013, in which Norwich City beat Dorados de Sinaloa 3–0. Since then the site has taken an outdoor AHL fixture between the Stockton Heat and the Bakersfield Condors on 18 December 2015 and a run of Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna in January and February 2020.
Sacramento Republic FC of the USL Championship are the resident club. From 2025 to 2027 the Oakland Athletics share it as a temporary Major League Baseball home; their first game here, on 31 March 2025 against the Chicago Cubs, drew 12,192.
