Ice Palace Kristall
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia
The most striking feature of the Kristall Ice Palace in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is its exterior.
It features a standard-sized rink measuring 60 by 30 meters. The facility opened in April 2013, built with the specific aim of developing ice hockey in the region. It became the home of PSK Sakhalin, a team that dominated the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH) for several seasons. The squad won the ALIH championship in consecutive years, winning the title in 2018–19 and 2019–20. They were also regular season champions in those same years. The team was removed from the league in 2022 following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which ended their tenure at the venue.
The arena was not designed solely for hockey. It is a multi-purpose complex used for figure skating and concerts. The capacity is generally listed as 1,526 for ice hockey events, though some sources suggest a total capacity of up to 2,000 for concerts when standing room is included.
