The pitch at Sportanlage In der Ahe is natural grass, a surface that requires maintenance, but the reason the ground is remembered is what it has hosted.

Hamburger SV came to town for a friendly match in 2016. The visit was part of their season-closing tour, and the presence of the DFB President at the match drew a crowd that filled the stands. The visitors won 6-0, and the attendance record of 3,000 has stood since.

The venue also serves as a training ground for the Rotenburg Wolverines, an American football side, which suggests the field is used well beyond the ninety minutes of a local league game. There is also a memory of the Trinidad & Tobago national team using the site as a training base during the World Cup in Germany.

The ground has seen the German youth teams come through as well, with matches between Germany U16 and Austria U16 taking place here in 2016 and 2019. The facility is also home to the annual Sportivationstag, a sports day that draws over 5,800 participants.
