Ledena dvorana Zalog
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ledena dvorana Zalog sits in the Zalog district of Ljubljana, where the street name itself — Hladilniška pot — tells you exactly what happens inside. The covered arena was completed in 2007, though an open-air rink stood on the site before that.
It holds 1,200 for hockey, though the operator's website mentions 200 for recreational skating sessions. The surface is artificial ice, kept cold by mechanical refrigeration, and the season runs from October through March. HK Slavija's senior men's team plays here, as does their U18 side. HK Olimpija Ljubljana do not play here — they are at Hala Tivoli, a different building with a different crowd.
Competitions come through: the Alpine Hockey League, the International Hockey League, and women's leagues. The arena also hosted the 2016 European Curling Championships in the C-Division and the Ljubljana Open in 2017. Major renovations in 2008 added spectator stands for 790 seats, and a further extension in 2011 brought saunas and fitness space. The rink measures 60 by 30 metres.
There was a charity match on November 27, 2013 — The Movember Game between HK Playboy Slavija and HDK Maribor — but no attendance figure has surfaced for it. The city of Ljubljana manages the facility through Javni zavod Šport Ljubljana.
