Traktor Ice Arena named after V. K. Belousov

Traktor Ice Arena named after V. K. Belousov in Chelyabinsk does not hide from the weather. On February 15, 2013, the roof sustained damage from the Chelyabinsk meteor. It replaced the old Yunost Sports Palace, a shift that brought more space but also trouble; in 2009, construction errors caused leaks that only later found repair.

Inside, the ice has changed character. In 2020, the rink was modified to "Finnish" dimensions—28 meters wide and 60 meters long—a change that can be reverted to the "Canadian" standard when the schedule demands it. The capacity sits at 7,500 for hockey matches, though the room swells to 9,200 with temporary seating for concerts. In August 2012, new safety boards and protective glass were installed.

The name carries weight. In June 2015, the arena was renamed in honor of legendary coach Valeri Belousov; previously it was known simply as Traktor Ice Arena. When the junior team Belie Medvedi played Tolpar Ufa in March 2011, they drew 6,500 and then 7,000 spectators, setting a record that still sits with the ground. The main tenant, HC Traktor, plays here alongside the women’s team Belie Medveditsy and the junior side. The history between Traktor and Metallurg Magnitogorsk adds an edge to the fixtures; the 2013 Gagarin Cup Finals were held here.
