Linz AG Eisarena

The long, curved roof—visible as a glass and metal barrel vault—slopes down toward the riverbank. The roof’s curve isn’t just aesthetic; it channels the sound of a puck hitting the boards down toward the stands.

This matters. The arena has seen its share of rebrands—Linzer Eissporthalle, Keine Sorgen EisArena—but the structure itself has remained stubbornly the same. The 2014 expansion added seating, pushing the capacity past 4,800, yet the feeling inside has not changed. It is still a room for hard hits and cold air.

The Black Wings play here now, a side that has seen better days in the ICE Hockey League, but one that still holds every card in the local derby. When they lose, the silence is heavier than when they win. The arena has hosted the Austrian Women’s Hockey League Final Four, proving it can handle pressure, but mostly it hosts Tuesdays and Thursdays, where the heat takes the sting out of the game.
