CSKA Arena
Moscow, Russia
Formerly: Arena CSKA
VEB Arena opened in September 2016, replacing a ground that had served PFC CSKA Moscow since 1961. The old stadium was demolished in 2006, and the club played elsewhere while the new building took shape. Construction began in May 2007 and dragged on for nine years, delayed by a dispute over the land that was not resolved until 2011.
The capacity is 29,071. The highest crowd recorded was on September 23, 2018, during a Russian Premier League match against Spartak, when 29,361 spectators filled the seats. A week earlier, in the Europa League quarter-final against Arsenal, 29,284 had turned up. The stadium has hosted Champions League ties against Tottenham Hotspur in 2016, Manchester United and Benfica in 2017, and a Europa League match against Chelsea in 2019. The Russia national team has played three friendlies here: against Chile and South Korea in 2017, and Turkey in 2018. The roof was never built, despite being part of the original blueprint; plans to add one were abandoned in 2019.
