Pabellón Municipal El Sargal
Cuenca, Spain
The Pabellón Municipal El Sargal is a hall in the Los Moralejos quarter of Cuenca, Spain. It opened in 1970 and has been maintained by the Ayuntamiento de Cuenca since. The interior holds a specific history for local handball.
The primary tenant is Rebi Balonmano Cuenca, formerly BM Ciudad Encantada. The club has played its home matches here since 2008. The main arena, known as "Paulino Fernández," seats 1,800 spectators. This figure is consistent across municipal records and club publications. The floor is a removable 7.5 mm vinyl sports surface, homologated for professional competition.
The structure has required significant attention in recent years. In September 2021, a storm damaged the roof. The council replaced the covering with translucent polycarbonate panels to improve durability. A further repair on the central court’s roof was completed in late 2022.
