Palau de Gel d'Andorra
Canillo, Andorra
The Palau de Gel d'Andorra overlooks the high meadows of Canillo, the northernmost parish. The current structure, however, is a younger thing. It replaced the crumbling 1970s facility in November 2012.
The arena stands on the main road, close to the Hotel Ski Plaza & Wellness. Inside, the artificial ice surface measures 60 by 30 meters—a full Olympic size. It is not just a hockey venue. The complex includes a curling zone, a heated swimming pool, and a gymnasium. The primary tenant is Andorra Hoquei Gel, a club founded in 1990 that plays in the Iberian Ice Hockey League. The venue also serves as the headquarters for the Andorran Federation of Ice Sports.
The capacity is listed as 1,500 spectators, though one travel article claims 2,000 for the new arena. A major renovation of the ice rink and other facilities was completed in June 2024, marking 36 years since the first ice was laid. Another €7.3 million modernization is planned for September 2027. The official website is palaudegel.ad. The venue sits at 42°33'59"N, 1°35'53"E.
