Renew Arena
Upplands Väsby, Sweden
Formerly: Vilundaparkens Ishall, Vilundahallen
Renew Arena sits in Vilundaparken, a sports area in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. It began as an outdoor ice rink constructed in 1967 before being enclosed to create an indoor facility in 1976. The municipality owns the venue, which is the fourth largest ice arena in the Stockholm area.
The roof structure covers the ice surface for hockey and figure skating, while the capacity is officially 3,000 spectators. A match against Björklöven on October 1, 1987, drew 3,683 people to see Väsby IK Hockey promoted to the Elitserien, a record that still stands. New stands were built along the long sides of the arena to accommodate that growth. In 2019, the venue was renamed from Vilundahallen to Renew Arena.
Major renovations occurred in 2005 when an outdoor rink was built, followed by work in 2017 that enclosed that outdoor rink as a B-hall. The ice surface and boards were replaced in 2018. The facility also includes a football hall with artificial turf, a full-size 11-player pitch that can be divided into four smaller areas for training.
Väsby IK Hockey, nicknamed 'Vilda Väsby', has been based here since being founded in 1956. The club plays in Hockeyettan, the third tier of Swedish ice hockey. The arena has hosted TV-pucken in 2024, Sweden's classic youth ice hockey tournament, alongside events by Upplands Väsby Konståkningsklubb.
