Ritten Arena
Collalbo, Italy
The outdoor track sits on the plateau. The outdoor track was built in 1989 with artificial ice, but the original rink goes back further. Heavy rains in the early eighties forced the concrete bases to be poured, shaping the layout that is still in use today.
The indoor stadium arrived later. It was officially opened in 1999 and sits adjacent to the open track. Inside, the stands are close to the ice. The capacity is listed as 2,000 seats, though older records from the Serie A1 league mention 1,200.
Ritten Sport (Rittner Buam) plays their home games here. The team competes in the Alps Hockey League, and the local board operates the facility through a cooperative called Sportgenossenschaft Ritten. The brand name 'Arena Ritten' was created in 2004, when a gym was also added to the complex. The address is Via Zaberbach 15.
The outdoor track has hosted the European Speed Skating Championships three times, in 2007, 2011, and 2019. Those events brought the world to the plateau. The indoor stadium hosts short track and ice-stock sport competitions when the hockey season is not running. The two facilities together form a single site for winter sports in the region.
