Rudny Ice Palace
Rudny, Kazakhstan
Formerly: Ice Palace of Sports
The arena sits on ul. Lenina 56 in a city built around a mining plant. It opened in 1980 to house the local hockey club HC Gornyak.
The facility holds 1,050 spectators. Some sources list a higher capacity, but 1,050 is the figure used in current match reports from the Pro Hokei Ligasy. The ice surface is artificial, maintained by a refrigeration system. The arena also allows public skating sessions when not in use for professional matches.
In February 2017 the venue suffered a fire in the basement utility room, reportedly caused by an electrical short circuit. A later renovation replaced the original refrigeration equipment.
The club plays in the top tier of the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship. They host matches for youth leagues as well, including the MHL-B. The arena is operated by the State Communal Property Enterprise "Ice Palace of Sports".
