The arena in Brăila does not shout. It stands quietly in a city that has seen its sports fortunes change more than once. The name 'Sala Polivalentă Danubius' arrived later, attached by a sponsorship agreement, but the building itself is older than the branding. It opened in 1975 and has worked through the decades. The capacity is reported as 2,000 seats.
Inside, the floor is parquet, laid flat and ready for the ball. The seats are arranged in tight rows. It is a working room, not a monument. The team that calls it home, Handbal Club Dunărea Brăila, plays women's handball here. Visitors do not travel here to watch a spectacle.
The building has been touched up. Thermal windows replaced the old frames, but the bones remain the same.
The city of Brăila is not a metropolis. It is a place for sport, nothing more. The fans know this.
