SAP Center at San Jose
San Jose, United States
The SAP Center at San Jose Inside, the air is always cold. The surface is artificial ice, kept solid by refrigeration systems that hum beneath the boards. There is no natural snow here, nothing to drift into the corners. Just a sheet of white that has hosted everything from NHL games to figure skating championships and, occasionally, basketball tournaments when the league needed a temporary home. The stands rise steeply, and the seats are close enough that a fight in the front row feels like it happens in the room next door. In April 2023 the layout changed again, when three rows of regular seating were pulled out to make room for a penthouse lounge and seven suites. The capacity dropped from 17,562 to 17,435 for ice hockey, though a concert can still squeeze 19,190 people inside. Less than a decade after it opened in 1993, the arena was already reshaping itself. It has held Super Bowl opening nights, WWE events, and a dozen different sports leagues that came and went. The fanbase does not talk about nostalgia; they talk about the next game. They know the building can spring a surprise, and they know it will not let them go until the final buzzer sounds.
