The space where Skedsmohallen stands feels quieter than a football ground, but not empty. It is an indoor arena in the Kjeller area of Lillestrøm, and the memory of what happens here is not tied to summer sun or changing seasons. The pitch is not grass; it is a sports floor, worn smooth by the pivot of handball boots and the slap of balls against a parquetry surface that no longer carries the scent of pine.

It is here that the heat took the sting out of a winter evening in Lillestrøm. Long before the women's team Romerike Ravens took the floor, the hall was a concert hub. Eric Clapton and Def Leppard played here when the local community had fewer places to gather. The noise from those nights still seems to linger in the rafters, competing with the squeak of sneakers and the announcements of referees. The Ravens, who played in the REMA 1000-ligaen until their bankruptcy in August 2026, are the current heartbeat of the venue, but they do not own the history of the building.

There is a bench near the side line where players sit and wait to be called upon. It is a simple wooden thing, worn dark by use. Beyond the glass, the snow piles up against the fencing, white and cold, while inside the air is warm and smells of sweat and rubber. The sound system was renewed in 2021, meaning the echoes now travel differently.

The Romerike Ravens have found a home here, and the city has found a place for its games. It sits at Leiraveien 2, a concrete block that does not announce itself to passersby but holds the energy of thousands inside. The stands are close, so the players can hear the crowd. The crowd can see the players. There is no separation, only the game
