Snapdragon Stadium

The stadium itself is a study in modern steel and concrete, with the jagged roof supports visible in the construction photos adding a distinct, almost industrial edge to the skyline. It stands on the site of the old Qualcomm Stadium, which is gone, leaving this new structure to fill the void.

It was designed for a specific purpose: to hold the new MLS side and the NWSL club. The pitch is natural grass, but you can spot the faint lines of the synthetic overlay at the edges if you know where to look. It is a place built for weather, or perhaps, built to challenge it. The opening match in September 2022 was sweltering, the heat unbearable for many in the stands, a day the city has not forgotten.
