Sportpark Het Lageveld

Sportpark Het Lageveld sits at 2e Lageveldsweg 6d, a modest complex in Wierden. It is a working ground for SV Zwaluwen Wierden, a club that has called this turf home since 1948. The pitch is artificial turf.

What makes this place distinct is not its architecture, but the history layered beneath the synthetic surface. It once hosted WVV Wierden, a side founded in 1916 that dissolved in 2012. Their legacy remains in the local memory, even if the team no longer plays. The capacity is 3,000.

The ground has seen visitors from higher leagues. FC Volendam played a friendly here in July 2023, winning 6–1 during SVZW’s 75th-anniversary celebrations. FC Twente and Go Ahead Eagles have also used the facilities for training camps, bringing professional players to this quiet corner of the Netherlands.

It is also a community hub. The Ambulare Snerttocht, a charity winter walk, and the Lowfield Challenge draw people who do not necessarily follow football. The complex serves Juventa '12 and other local groups. It is a place where football is played, not performed.
