Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio
Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy
Built between 1952 and 1954 and opened on 26 October 1955, it began as an open-air bowl in which 7,000 spectators could stand. A roof came later, after 1981, and a full renovation in 2002–2003 turned the space into a covered arena.
SG Cortina made it their home from 1924 until November 2024, when the club moved to the Galvalux Arena in Tai di Cadore. The stadium has since been fitted with new LED lighting and accessibility upgrades. The surface is artificial ice, maintained by an ammonia refrigeration system, and contains two rinks totalling 4,320 square metres.
What remains visible today is a concrete structure with a green roof and wooden cladding, set against a backdrop of limestone peaks. The curling events at the 2026 Winter Olympics will take place here.
