Steffl Arena
Vienna, Austria
Formerly: Albert Schultz Eishalle, Erste Bank Arena
The Steffl Arena is an indoor ice sports facility in Vienna's 22nd district, built for the 1996 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Construction began in 1989, and the venue opened in January 1995. The City of Vienna owns the site.
Three ice rinks provide the playing surfaces, each covering 1,800 square metres of artificial ice. Vienna Capitals play their home matches here, as do the EHV Sabres Wien. The arena also hosts handball, volleyball, and basketball. In November 2021, the venue took its current name, though it is officially marketed as neuro.io arena.
A major renovation between 2010 and 2011 raised the capacity from 4,500 to 7,022. The work cost approximately 30 million Euro and added a third ice hall with seating for 1,000 people, a new parking garage, and LED displays. The first match in the fully renovated arena took place on August 11, 2011.
The address is Attemsgasse 1.
The capacity is not the defining feature of this ground. The highest recorded attendance for a Vienna Capitals game was 5,078 fans in the 2012/13 season.
