The ground sits in the Dafna neighbourhood. Opened in 1985 , the stadium has kept its basic structure through the years.
It hosted the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, when matches like Japan versus Jordan were played here, and the track has held the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix since the Diamond League arrived in 2010.
Qatar Sports Club plays its home games here, and the ground has seen international qualifiers, including a victory for Yemen over Nepal in 2018.
