Thani bin Jassim Stadium

Thani bin Jassim Stadium stands in the Al Gharrafa district of Al Rayyan on Al Zubar Street.

The venue opened in 2003 after construction began in 2001, designed by the firm Albert Speer and Partners. It remains the home ground for Al-Gharafa SC, though it has also hosted matches for Umm Salal SC and the Qatari national team. The pitch is natural grass. It was named after Sheikh Thani bin Jassim Al Thani and does not carry a commercial sponsorship title.

Plans for a major expansion ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup were abandoned, and the ground was not used as a World Cup venue. Instead, it served as a host for the 2006 Asian Games and the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, where it staged a quarter-final between Japan and Qatar. In 2019, the stadium became the first outside Africa to host the CAF Super Cup final, with Raja Casablanca beating Esperance Tunis 2–1. It has also featured in AFC World Cup qualification matches, including a fixture between South Korea and Iraq in November 2021, and acted as a venue for the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup.
