Tromsø Ishall
Tromsø, Norway
Tromsø Ishall sits quietly at the Fløyahallen complex. It is not the football club's ground. Opened in spring 2010 , it has carried the city's rink sports without fuss. The arena has 500 seats, though you could not tell the difference between a standing spot and a chair.
It is the first ice arena in Northern Norway, a fact that matters more to the history of the sport than to the casual visitor. It is designed to hold a skating surface, not to impress.
Figure skating takes place here too, with the Norwegian Figure Skating Championships held in 2024. The building has never changed its name, sticking to 'Tromsø ishall' after a committee rejected the alternative 'Isflaket'.
That is enough. It is simply the place where the ice is kept, and where the city plays its winter sports.
