Urartu Stadium (formerly 'Banants Stadium')
Yerevan, Armenia
Formerly: Banants Stadium
UEFA funding changed that. Between 2006 and 2008 the whole site was rebuilt, and what reopened in 2008 was a proper stadium rather than an annex to a training ground. A second round of work in 2011 raised the stands again and fitted a membrane roof over the north stand, taking capacity to 4,860.
The name followed the club rather than the other way round: when Banants became Urartu in 2019, the stadium took the new name with it.
In November 2016 it staged matches at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, and it has also hosted European qualifying ties — days when a ground built for a training centre had to function as an international venue. Most weekends tell a quieter story: average attendances sit around 710, closer to a training-centre gate than a sell-out crowd.
