Zimní stadion Benátky nad Jizerou

The Zimní stadion Benátky nad Jizerou is a practical piece of infrastructure for a community that needed a covered rink after decades of relying on the frozen Jizera River. The facility opened its doors in 1998.

What makes this place distinct is not its grandeur, but a specific chapter in its history. During the 2007–2008 season, the arena hosted BK Mladá Boleslav, a team from the Czech Extraliga, while their own home was under reconstruction. The local club, HC Benátky nad Jizerou, eventually securing promotion to the first division and playing their home games at the venue for fourteen seasons.

The interior is functional and unpretentious. The playing surface is artificial ice, maintained by mechanical refrigeration, which allows for consistent play regardless of the outside temperature. The seating is a mix of rows and standing areas.

There are no sponsors’ names on the building itself, and the structure has remained largely unchanged since it opened. It serves the local community, hosting public skating and summer hockey schools when the ice is not reserved for professional matches.
