Zimní stadion Ivana Hlinky

The arena has seen its share of history. It was originally built with an artificial ice surface, a rarity for the time, and was later roofed in the mid-1960s. The face of the building has changed little, but the interior has been updated over the years. In 2013, a major renovation tightened the space, reducing the number of spectators to meet modern safety standards. The club HC Verva Litvínov plays here, and they celebrated their first title in the Czech Extraliga on this ice in 2015.

The Zimní stadion Ivana Hlinky is a working building in the Horní Litvínov district. It differs from newer arenas by its exposed steel framework and the way the stands curve around the rink.

The yellow steel beams overhead are a defining feature, connecting the roof to the walls. Below them, the crowd watches from behind a glass barrier. The seats are not arranged in a perfect circle; they follow the shape of the building, which was designed for function as much as for sport.

Outside, the atmosphere is quieter. A sign for a restaurant and bar runs along the upper level, suggesting the building serves the community beyond match days. The entrance is marked by a simple sign, and the pavement is often damp, reflecting the grey sky typical of the region.
