US Mondorf-les-Bains extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 3:1 victory over Jeunesse Esch in the National Division on Sunday. The result keeps the visitors top of the table while Jeunesse Esch remain rooted to the bottom half with just one win from four games.
H. Far gave the hosts a surprise lead in the 14th minute, but S. Lopes responded before half-time to level things at 1:1. K. Schmitz then converted a penalty in the 55th minute to put US Mondorf-les-Bains ahead, and G. Monteiro Lima sealed the win with a late strike in the 83rd minute.
Jeunesse Esch dominated possession at 57 per cent but could only muster one goal from 104 attacks. Their visitors were more clinical, scoring three times from 81 attacks and taking five corners to the hosts' three. The hosts also picked up two yellow cards while the away side showed four.
The defeat leaves Jeunesse Esch in 14th place with three points from five matches. They had lost their previous three games 1:0, 2:0 and 2:1 before the 4:2 victory over Berdunia Berburur earlier in the season.
US Mondorf-les-Bains sit two points clear at the top with 15 points from five wins. Their only dropped points came in a 1:1 draw with Dynamo Tbilisi on 16 July, and since then they have won all four league fixtures including the 1:0 victory over F91 Dudelange last weekend.
