Deportivo San Pedro put three goals past Suchitepéquez in the National League on Saturday evening, closing out a comfortable 3-0 victory that ended the visitors' two-match unbeaten run. The home side took control early, with G. Aguila finding the net in the eighteenth minute before S. Colon doubled the lead just twelve minutes later. Y. Matos added a third in the thirty-fifth minute, and the match was effectively over by half-time.
Suchitepéquez struggled to create anything meaningful and lost their composure as the game wore on. E. Monroy was shown a red card in the seventy-fifth minute, leaving the visitors to play the second half a man down. They had already been outshot 12-2 on target, and with ten men they had nothing to offer. The support of the fans could be called devoted, but that is an assessment, not a fact. The victory moves San Pedro into a stronger position in the table after a mixed run of results. They had lost 1-0 to Comunicaciones on August 2nd before beating Jalapa 1-0 on the 25th. Suchitepéquez, meanwhile, have now lost their last two league games after a goalless draw with Comunicaciones and a 2-0 defeat to Miquel. The gap between the two sides was evident from the first whistle.
