Sesvete claimed a 2:1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb U21 in the first round of the First NL regular season on Thursday. The away side took the lead through S. Akanni before Dinamo equalised from the penalty spot, but D. Ravlic's second goal secured all three points for Sesvete.
The visitors struck first when J. Brundic found the net in the tenth minute, giving Sesvete an early advantage. Dinamo responded through Akanni's goal in the thirty-third minute, but it was Ravlic's penalty in the forty-second that brought the hosts level before the break. The half ended with two yellow cards already on the board.
Substitutions came in quick succession after the interval. Bakovic, Perkovic and Akanni all left the field for Dinamo in the forty-sixth minute, while Sesvete brought on Kanceljak and Brundic in the sixty-sixth. Ravlic was replaced by Gasparac for the visitors in the seventy-fifth minute.
Dinamo dominated possession at 59 per cent but could not convert their advantage. They registered six shots on target alongside four off target, while Sesvete matched them with six on target and three wide. Both sides picked up two yellow cards and drew level on corners at seven to three in favour of the hosts.
The result keeps Dinamo Zagreb U21 in second place on nine points from five matches, with three wins and two defeats. Sesvete remain seventh with six points, having won twice and lost three times in their opening campaign.
