Match report

Fukushima United ran riot against Oya in the first round of the Emperor's Cup, securing a 7-0 victory on 19 August. The hosts never let the visitors off the pitch, and by then it was clear this wouldn't be a contest for long. To be fair, Oya knew exactly what they were facing, but knowing and surviving are two different things.

K. Miura opened the scoring in the twelfth minute, and here's the thing — he'd already made his mark with that early strike. S. Nozue doubled the advantage within twenty minutes, striking twice in consecutive minutes at 32 and 33. N. Sasaki added a third just before the break, and Fukushima never got out of second gear after the interval.

T. Chiba and K. Miura extended the lead in the fifty-second and fifty-fifth minutes respectively, before K. Shimizu scored in the seventieth. There was another goal at seventy-one, and Y. Okada rounded off the evening in the eighty-fourth. The hosts were dominant in the air from set plays, and the statistics tell you everything you need to know.

Fukushima recorded 14 shots on target and 14 off target, compared to Oya's zero on target and two off. Possession sat at 71 per cent for the hosts, with 12 corners to Oya's 2. They had 22 throw-ins against 13, and 4 offsides to nothing from the visitors. The figures don't lie — this was a one-sided affair from start to finish.

The result leaves Oya with a lot of work to do, especially considering their recent history. They lost 9-0 to Fukushima in 2024, and before that 5-0 to Tochigi in 2025. This wasn't a surprise result, but it was certainly a thorough one.
