Borussia Dortmund II saw off Fulham U21 4-1 in the International Premier League Cup group stage on Wednesday evening. The German side took control early and never looked back, while the hosts managed only a single response before being outclassed.
I. H. Sani gave Fulham the lead after five minutes, but Dortmund quickly evened up and then pulled away. F. Zarqelain and M. Albert struck inside the first quarter-hour, and by then Fulham were already chasing the game.
The visitors doubled their advantage after the break. J. Verlaat made it 3-1 in the fifty-second minute, and J. Lerma closed the game out with a fourth just five minutes later. Fulham never got going after that.
Dortmund dominated possession at 55 per cent and generated 64 attacks compared to 60 for their hosts. They won 12 corners to 2, though the statistics don't tell the full story — the result was decided in those first twenty minutes.
The defeat leaves Fulham U21 with work to do in the group, while Dortmund II have the deeper squad and are already looking like contenders.
