Presov secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Lokomotiva Zvolen in the second round of the Slovak Second League on Saturday. The result extends Zvolen's winless run to five matches across all competitions, while Presov moved to seventh in the table with ten points from seven games.
The match remained goalless until the final quarter. Presov had a chance to take the lead just before halftime when M. Siplak missed a penalty in the 38th minute. He received a yellow card himself in the 59th minute for his troubles.
D. Suchy finally broke the deadlock in the 68th minute, capitalising on a moment of opportunity against a Zvolen side that had dominated possession. The home side controlled 53 per cent of the ball and registered 111 attacks, but their three shots on target proved less clinical than Presov's four.
Zvolen made tactical adjustments throughout the second half, bringing on D. Griger after the interval and later R. Poboril in the 63rd minute. Presov responded with P. Onuoha's introduction in the 57th minute. Both managers were forced to make changes as the match developed.
The visitors' defensive organisation held firm despite Zvolen's territorial advantage. Presov completed fewer attacks but were more precise, while the home side's seven shots off target highlighted a lack of cutting edge. Zvolen's position at the bottom of the table with just three points from seven matches makes this defeat increasingly concerning.
