Komárno saw off Novohrad Lučenec 2-0 in the Round of 64 of the Cup on Tuesday evening. The visitors controlled proceedings from start to finish, with two second-half goals settling the tie. The result keeps their Cup campaign alive while sending the home side packing.
J. Palan opened the scoring in the 74th minute, finishing off a move that stretched the home defence. Komárno added a second goal in the 89th minute to wrap up the victory. The hosts never really threatened to get back into the match after going behind.
The statistics tell the story of a one-sided contest. Komárno enjoyed 74 per cent possession and registered 151 attacks compared to just 61 from Novohrad Lučenec. The visitors also had eight shots on target against three off target, while the home side could only manage one shot on target from six attempts.
Komárno have now played five matches in this period, with results including a goalless draw against Skalica FC and a 2-2 draw with Dukla Banská Bystrica. They will hope to build on this performance when they next appear in the Cup.
