Kuching City took all three points away from home as they beat Sabah 2:0 in the Super League's third round of the regular season. The visitors put the match beyond doubt by minute twenty, when A. Mujagic had already netted twice. To be fair, the result reflected the quality of their finishing more than anything else.
Mujagic opened the scoring in the fifth minute, then doubled his tally in the twenty-first. Sabah's defence never really stretched the back line after that, and the visitors held every card they had. The home side would have needed something special to turn this around.
Kuching City's manager got his substitutions spot on when the game opened up. Park Jung-Bin came on at the break, while Sabah brought on F. Zulkifi and F. Danel together in the seventieth minute. By then the match was already decided, and the changes were about managing legs rather than changing the shape.
The statistics tell their own story. Sabah had 51 percent possession and 121 attacks but managed only one shot on target, while Kuching City, with 49 percent of the ball, registered seven. They had the game won inside twenty minutes, and the rest was simply keeping control.
With the win Kuching City moved to second place on nine points from four matches, while Sabah stayed fourth on six points after three games. The visitors extended their unbeaten run to eight across all competitions, and the gap between them and the hosts grew.
